I had time to think. No time pressure. I was somehow free and tremendously creative! I came up with all kinds of things during that time, the singer says. Impressively, Sonia succeeds in distilling life in all its complexity and with all its myriad facets down to its essence. Not with frustration or helplessness, but in a nuanced manner and with the imperturbable and keenly alert view of a woman who has experienced much in life. The vocalist says shes become more forgiving. Whereas the language of her heart used to be expressed almost exclusively in terms of protest, today its at most selectively critical. Her singing about difficult interpersonal relationships is also more relaxed on the new release and perhaps therefore more poignant, too.
